Why I won’t be going back to BT…

I recently terminated my contract with BT after a long struggle to do so. The following email, which finally allowed me to cancel, details my trouble up to that point and the reason BT, despite managing to get an extra year out of me by force, have now ensured that I will never be a customer of theirs again.

On xx/12/2009 I wrote to cancel my account [Incident: xxxxxxx] and was told that it was in fact more expensive for me to do so than to retain the account until its expiry date.

Said renewal date is, as I was informed, xx/11/10, which we are now just over a month away from.

I therefore wish to cancel my account and ensure that the contract does not renew for another year. I would have done this a year ago, but you were so kind as to not send me any reminder whatsoever that the contract was up for renewal.

By the way, don’t bother trying to call me on the account phone number – I no longer live there. I’m just stuck paying the bill due to your draconian contract terms, which have at least ensured that I will never again be a BT customer.

So please, cancel my account; either immediately, or on the renewal date, which ever results in me giving you as little money as possible.

Thanks.
